Personal Development Point Goals #10

This week I my goal is to film a small video for my Media Studies work. I will be filming all of the props and equipment that I will use and editing it together. My Media Studies teacher recommended that I make a poster showing all of these things, but to show my editing skills to the examiner and practice editing even more I am going to make another film.

The second goal that I am setting myself is to complete a piece of ICT work that is due for next week. I have not had time to start this work as I have been busy with other subjects and work. The task I have been set is to complete a publisher document on social media. This will be a small challenge for me as I have never really used Microsoft publisher before and don't know the workings of it. This means that I will have to use the internet to learn how to use some of the features I'm not familiar with to complete the task.

The last goal that I am setting myself for the week is to complete some of the work I have been doing in art. I have made this a priority because I haven't had a lot of time to complete the work I have started due to the workload in other lessons. This means that I will have to dedicate my free periods in school towards doing this to keep on top of the one A2 sheet a week goal my teacher has set.

Throughout this week I have managed to complete all of my outstanding ICT work. To do this I had to dedicate a lot of time at home to ensure I have completed all of the work that has been set. I had dedicated so much time to this work over any other subject as I had made it a priority as a lot of work had been set in this particular subject. Because I have completed all of this work I can work on completing pieces for my Art coursework.

The second goal that I had managed to complete this week was the goal to collect all of the props that I will need to film a short movie on all of the equipment that I will use to film my final piece. I have also arranged to take out tripods and lights to film the movie in a certain room. I have found an old wooden backdrop that will be very good for the aesthetic of my film.

My final goal for the week was to plan and find all of the items I will need to build a new desk. I have found some old reclaimed wood and pipes that I will be able to use and will by building this after Christmas. I have also found mounts that will be able to support my screens. This is very important as triple screen mounts are very expensive to buy from the internet. Because I am building my desk I can easily make supports to suit my needs. I am planning to build this in a few weeks time.

This week I plan to complete all of the remaining work on my ICT P5 document. I am behind on this work as I had not made it a priority above any of my other work. Because I have done this I need to complete it as quickly as possible so that I don't have to worry about completing it at home when I could be improving other work.

My next goal for this week is to collect all of the props that I will need to shoot my Media Studies final piece. I plan to make a video on all of the props and equipment I will be using to produce the video. This will also be put on my Media Studies Coursework Blog and be a part of the planning section I am currently working on.

The last goal I am setting myself is to plan and find all of the items I will need to build myself a new desk. I am going to be using reclaimed wood and pipes. This will both be environmentally friendly, cheap to build and very large. I need the desk to be very large because I currently have a 6ft desk and would find it very hard to return to a small one. I need to measure and find all of the individual parts I will need so I will be able to build it in the Christmas holidays.

Throughout the week I have managed to finish the storyboard I have been drawing out for my Media Studies task. I have also learned new skills on Photoshop. I have learned how to properly use the guide feature properly as I was unsure how to use them before. Because I have measured everything out correctly the storyboard looks very professional and I will easily be able to edit and change shots around if I need to without needing to adjust any of the sizes.

In my art class I managed to finish a drawing of the close up motorbike engine I have been working on. This didn't take as long as the car engine I have been drawing due to it being smaller and I didn't make the drawing as detailed. This piece will show my development to drawing my car engine very well.

My final goal was complete my D1 task. I did this very efficiently as I had dedicated a lot of time towards completing it. The reason I manage to complete the piece in such a short amount of time was the fact that I had taken frequent short breaks to have a drink so I didn't get bored. This is very important when I am working as my concentration levels drop very fast if I don't take my mind off of the work for a few minutes to refresh my mind. Because the work is finished I will be able to fully concentrate on all of my other ICT work

This week I am planning to create the storyboard for my Media Studies final piece task. This will include listing all of the shot types, music, sound and the length of the shots I will use in my final piece. The movie needs to be at least 2 minutes long and include a verity of shots and different types of music to interest the audience. All of this will be completed in the storyboard. I will be creating the storyboard digitally so I am easily able to change around and edit the drawings that I have planned out and think may not be suitable.

The second task I have set myself is to complete a drawing that I have been working on in my art class. This piece is a short sketch of a close up motorbike engine which is very detailed but I am working on making it simpler and a lot less working time. Doing this piece will show development to my larger car engine drawing that I have completed over the course of 5 hours in a mock exam.

The last goal I have set myself is to complete my ICT D1 task that I have been set. All I now need to do is complete the comments that will help me improve my work so that I can get the best grade possible. The work needs to be completed as soon as possible as there is other work going to be set in class. If I do not complete the work I will receive a missing deadline and I will be behind on other work being set in class.

In the art exam that I had this week, I had managed to complete nearly all of the engine drawing. All that I hand t completed is some of the colour. However, the colour is the least time consuming part of the piece because I have already drawn out all of the engine which takes the longest amount of time. Finishing the piece off will only take around an hour.

In my Media Studies class I have managed to get all of my draft blog posts finished off and posted so I can now move on to planning my final movie piece. I find this a lot easier as I have already planned out everything I am going to do with the theme and genre so all I need to do is put everything into detail in a creative way.

On my Business Studies work I had managed to complete all of the comments set in around half an hour which aloud me to complete more on my Art engine piece. This was a big advantage as a lot of time is needed to complete artwork that is very detailed and large.

This week I am going to set the task of fishing off one of my final pieces in Art. I will try to do this in my 5 hour mock exam that I will be sitting. The exam is a very big advantage because it will allow me to complete a lot of work with minimal distractions. I plant to draw a car engine which is something that would be very complicated and detailed to draw. I have been set a target to draw something detailed by my art teacher so I have chosen an engine. The reason for me choosing this as something I am going to spend a long time on is because I am doing vintage cars as my art project theme. Drawing an old engine is a very good option because it is both a detailed image and related to cars in a very recognisable way.

Another task that I have set myself it to complete some work that I have to finish in my media studies class. I do not understand the work that has been set properly and have a lot to catch up on posting on my coursework blog. I have to post at least 4 things a week to achieve the best grade I can possibly get. This is a very hard task as I have a lot of other subjects that are concentrating on coursework.


The last task that I have set myself is to complete the remaining comments on by business coursework. My teachers have marked my work to say what I need to do to put my up to the next grade and improve my work. All I have to do is improve the bits of work that I have done that aren't up to standard. This will not take very long because there isn't a great deal of comments on the documents that I have been working on. This is an advantage because it will allocate me more time to complete work in other areas.

In this week I have managed to finish the London City short movie I have filmed. I have also colour corrected and stabilized the footage. I had to allocate a lot of my spare time to complete this task around my school work. I have also exported and rendered the video so others are able to view the movie.

I have now completed all of the improvements on my business work that was marked over the holidays (last week). This means that I can now carry on with the work that's currently being set in class. As a result of this I can be now more relaxed in class as I feel as I have nothing extra to worry about completing.

The last goal I had set for myself which was to complete my ICT work was completed very quickly and easily. This was because I had a very goo understanding of what I had to do for the work and my teacher had written comments to guide me into getting the best mark possible. As a result of this I have no missing deadline so my record will not show that I have missed any deadlines. This is an achievement also because I have proven to myself that I can complete all of the work expected in the right time frame.
